12-Month Contract | Global Manufacturing Group | Germany | S/4HANA Transformation

About the Role

Our client, a global manufacturing leader, is embarking on a multi-year SAP S/4HANA transformation program - one of the largest in its sector. To support this strategic initiative, we're seeking an experienced SAP FICO Lead Consultant to join on a freelance basis for an initial 12-month engagement.

In this key role, you will act as the primary functional lead and business counterpart, working closely with internal finance stakeholders and the System Integrator (SI) partner to ensure high-quality design, delivery, and alignment to global finance processes.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the lead functional expert for the SAP FICO (Finance & Controlling) workstream within the global S/4HANA transformation.
Act as the main interface between the business and the SI partner, challenging designs and ensuring alignment with group standards and best practices.
Support and validate solution design, blueprinting, and fit-gap analysis.
Oversee configuration, testing, and integration with adjacent modules (e.g., MM, SD, PP).
Advise on process harmonization, data migration, and reporting for finance and controlling.
Drive quality assurance across project deliverables and ensure readiness for key milestones.
Provide guidance to internal finance teams during UAT, training, and deployment.

Your Profile

8+ years of experience as an SAP FICO Consultant, with at least one S/4HANA implementation (preferably in a global or manufacturing environment).
Strong knowledge of core finance and controlling processes - including GL, AP, AR, AA, CO-PA, and Product Costing.
Proven experience working with or managing SI partners in large transformation programs.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to bridge business and technical discussions.
Fluent in English; German language skills are a strong advantage.
